GOD SHALL EXALT YOU

Humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time.
(1 Peter 5:6)

People from all walks of life love to be exalted in life and strive hard for it. They seek various ways and trust people to exalt them. Some succeed in their endeavors and for many it goes in vain. But there is a sure way in the Bible which says, “Humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time” (1 Peter 5:6). Yes, God desires us to be humble before Him in our lives and He will exalt us at the right time. The Bible urges us to be submissive to one another and be clothed with humility.

God wants us to submit our lives into His hands and He will perfect everything that concerns us. This is what the Bible says, “God knows everything and there is nothing hidden from His sight; all things are revealed before the eyes of the Lord” (Hebrews 4:13).

In the Bible we read about a man named Jacob who submitted and humbled himself into the hands of God. He exalted him in due time and gave him another name, “Israel” and blessed him according to the following verses, "O Israel! Who is like you, a people saved by the Lord, the shield of your help and the sword of your majesty! Your enemies shall submit to you, and you shall tread down their high places" (Deuteronomy 33:29).

“Let people serve you, and nations bow down to you. Be master over your brethren, and let your mother's sons bow down to you. Cursed be everyone who curses you, and blessed be those who bless you!" (Genesis 27:29).

God blessed Jacob and exalted him above all other nations. Even to this day, his descendants are a mighty people, blessed and nurtured by the Lord.

A mother wrote to me in tears regarding the long delay of her daughter’s marriage. I prayed for her and sent a prayerful reply quoting the scripture, "He has made everything beautiful in its time" (Ecclesiastes 3:11). I encouraged her to commit her daughter's marriage into the hands of the Lord and wait at the Lord's feet with praises. Further, I said the Lord would reward her according to the promise, "Humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time" (1 Peter 5:6).

She did accordingly and within a few months her daughter wrote back saying, "The Lord has blessed me with the best match! My husband is very loving and understanding. I praise and thank God for blessing and exalting me before everyone as you have written to my mother".

Beloved! The Lord loves to bless and exalt us before the eyes of the world. So let us commit our lives and humble ourselves in His hands. He will exalt us without fail.

Prayer:

Loving Heavenly Father,

You have made everything beautiful in its time. Father, I commit myself into Your hands, perfect everything for me. Mould me into a vessel of honour and exalt me. Give me grace to humble myself under Your mighty hands so that You will exalt me in due time before the world. In Jesus’ name I pray.

Amen.
