LIVING HOPE

who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead
(1 Peter 1:3)

Dear friend, we trust people for many things but to attain eternal life we need to trust in the living God.

The Bible says, "For surely there is a hereafter, and your hope will not be cut off" (Proverbs 23:18; Jeremiah 31:17).

In the Bible, we see Job, a man who feared God and shunned evil. He was the richest man in the East and had ten children and great possessions. He lost everything he owned in just one day and was struck with painful boils. His condition was tragic and even in that circumstance he said he trusted in God even though God may slew him. But when his sufferings prolonged, he said, "My days are swifter than a weaver's shuttle, and are spent without hope" (Job 7:6).

Dear friend, we trust God without wavering when our sufferings are for some time. But we begin to murmur when our sufferings prolong. But the Bible says there is a hereafter and our hope will not be cut off. God blessed Job in twice as much as he had in the beginning.

If we look into the life of Peter, the disciple of Jesus Christ we see he also desired to walk on the sea like Jesus. He asked Jesus to command him to come to Him. Jesus did as Peter wished who then began to walk on water at His word. But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was filled with fear and began to sink. He cried out, saying, "Lord, save me!" Immediately Jesus stretched His hand and caught Peter. He rebuked him that he had doubted His word. Similarly, many of us lose our faith and sink on seeing the storms of life. We in our anxiety and concern lose our hope in life and get terrified.

After resurrection, Jesus Christ appeared to His disciples and they feared he was a ghost. He showed them His hands and legs and said, “Why do doubts arise in your hearts?” (Luke 24:37). Dear friend, the Lord desires us to believe and hope in Him and not doubt Him or His word.

1 Timothy 1:1 says Jesus Christ is our hope. The Bible urges us to place our hope in the resurrected Christ (1 Peter 1:3) and we shall be blessed on earth as well as in eternity.

Prayer:

Loving Lord Jesus,

You are the hope for mankind and those who hope in You have never been proved wrong. Help me to believe in You at all times and not doubt You. Bless me and I give You all glory, honour and praise to You alone.

Amen।
